Report on behalf of Peter Green Hooray! Summer is here at last making it favourable conditions for the 'Beds' All-Round competition. The turnout was excellent with sixteen shooters attending. Only mad dogs, Englishmen & Juniors would brave the heat to contest this championship which is becoming very popular. Phil Coxhall was the early leader on the board with an 89, this was overtaken by Kevin Parsons' excellent 93 exceptional after a long lay off from shooting clays. After lunch conditions cooled down to make shooting more comfortable, with no wind the targets were flying true, this, however, failed to help many of the county's top shots. By late afternoon only Steve Whitelock and Andrew Clifton were in a position were still in a position to attack Kevin's score. Unfortunately, distracted by a series of gun malfunctions in the trap disciplines, Andrew dropped out of contention. Steve dropped a couple on the sporting leaving Kevin the well deserved winner and Steve as runner up. Veterens was won by 'smoker' Ian Porter, with his 32inch trap gun with which he vapourised all 25 skeet targets and finished with a 92. Gill Whinnett won ladies with a creditable 74 to take her second county title of the season- well done Gill!. Scot Whitelock came along with dad Steve and shot a 54 and will improve with his dad's knowledge. Many thanks to all that turned up after badgering from Pete who couldn't make due to a game fair commitment and a big thank you to Martine and all Northampton staff for a well organised shoot.
