May saw two County Championships take place, Sportrap and FITASC, both championships where combined with Northamptonshire and both held at Sporting Targets in Bedfordshire. The Sportrap Championship took place on 14th May. The weather probably playing the biggest part, with strong winds making targets more challenging than they might otherwise of been, however, 38 shooters from Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire braved these windy conditions, over the four layouts, to compete for top honors. Congratulations to Steve Leonard returning an excellent score on the day of 80, out of the 100, Bedfordshire 2011 County Champion. Glen Moore was just behind on 78, takes runner up spot. Malcolm Jenkins took Veterans Championship with a score of 69, with Junior honors being secured by Joe Heast on 65. Ladies Champion was taken by Gill Whinnett with 56. Fortunately the windy weather left us for the FITASC County Championships on 21st May. This was a three layout 75 target competition, in order to keep the costs down, thank you Sporting Targets. Once again this was combined with Northamptonshire County Championship and attracted 29 shooters from both counties.
Kevin Parsons, took the Bedfordshire County Championship with a score of 65, well done Kevin second year in a row, and even more creditable as he has not been well throughout this year. Veteran and Ladies titles where again taken by Malcolm Jenkins and Gill Whinnett. Junior Title was taken secured by A Longstaff. Congratulations to all our Champions, just as a reminder medals and trophies will be presented at the Bedfordshire CPSA AGM, date to be announced, at the beginning of next year. Also thank you to Sporting Targets for working so hard in putting these Championships together.
