Saturday 15th May will stick in the mind of young David Ferriman as he took his first county junior title for the 2010 Sport-Trap.  David claimed his medal by virtue of consistency across the 4 excellent layouts that had been set for the day, with two 17's and two 16's nicking the title from Joe Heast who was let down by a 12 on the basin layout.

The championship, which was successfully shared with shooters from Northamptonshire, enjoyed weather on the day that was well suited to good shooting and on average all of the layouts shot at about 17 ex 25 with most reporting that the layouts were good fun with the simo pairs being the key to hitting high scores.  This may have had a bearing on some relatively low scores in the Vets category which was closely fought with Pete Green taking the title by one from Trevor Sharp.

In seniors Steve Leonard was well clear of the rest of the field thanks again to consistency across all of the layout with both nearest rivals Fred Kidd and Glenn Moore suffering badly on the Basin layout, I don't know but my guess is that this difference was down to levels of success on the challenging "A" bird.  Special mention here for Steve's dad Toy Leonard from Cambridgeshire who somehow straighted this layout!

Unfortunately we failed to attract a single entry from a lady - I would welcome feedback as to why it is that our ladies are so reluctant to have a go at this discipline.
