ESP Qualifier(3) - April 2010 PDF Print E-mail

A beautiful spring day greeted the shooters for the 3rd Qualifier of 4 for the English Sporting Team.

Fletch set 13 stands which most shooters reported back to me as being of high quality with a few really tricky or deceptive targets but nothing daft. That said a whole variety of techniques we needed with some stands really favouring quick shooting styles and some better for the "trackers" amongst us.   So thanks Fletch, a good testing shoot for everybody!

In terms of qualifying Juniors and Ladies teams have picked themselves with all entrants that have shot (or could shoot) 2 shoots qualified.  Ben Pay will be coming down for the Championship to push Joe Heast hard in his last chance to claim the junior title - but could the fast improving Jack Nixon surprise both of them and nick it? Much will depend on how long it takes Jack to get used to the new Silver Pigeon Jack has secured from his sponsor.

In ladies, Linda Moore continues to be the one to beat - something that I am sure Gill Whinnett and Lorna Leonard will be going all out to achieve next month.  Karen Park continues to gain experience in her first few sporting shoots but hopefully wasn't put off by a chastening experience in the second qualifier.

Veterans saw Malcolm Jenkins and Roger Bravery draw on the day and secure team places for both.  Here the intrigue will be about whether Jim Munday shoots the championship and backs up his low score from the second shoot or and if he does which of Trevor Sharp or Lou Porter shoots the championship better with only one point separating them.

Finally, in seniors Glenn Moore continued his good form with an 87 to go to the top of qualifying.  The usual consistent performance from Steve Leonard and continued good form from Andy Nixon sees them close behind.  With Jason Brockett injured following a dislocated shoulder, Andrew Clifton unavailable for the team and Adrian Jeffries lurking with a shoot win in the bag it is hard to predict the final few places in the senior team.

Full results are posted below

Can I wish all Bedfordshire shooters best of luck for our championship and all of the forthcoming major shoots.

Cheers

JT
